Marmoleum also referred to as linoleum or lino floors are made from natural materials, with no use of synthetic materials like PVC / plastic or polyolefin. This makes them an eco-friendly flooring choice for every indoor environment. It has a smooth appearance and is available in a wide range of colours and patterns. More commonly used in schools, creches, dentists, pharmacies, offices, and kitchens.
Marmoleum does come sealed from the factory but the sealant is not suitable for high traffic areas. Any scratch on it is permanent damage, it cannot be repaired. Also, it’s not fully waterproof, so any spill should be immediately cleaned before it stains it. For this reason, it must be fully sealed BEFORE use or shortly after it’s installed.
Our process is based on 4 stages. Deep cleaning or stripping, where all dirt, residues, marks, and old sealant is cleaned with an acid-based solution called stripper. Then we move on to priming. This is applied before the sealant is, to ensure a base layer is formed to allow for a longer-lasting seal coat. Once this is done, we move to sealing. This is carried out with our favourite Irish-made, water-based, slip-resistant, high gloss, wet type look that will take your new or old floors to the next level.
Now not only your floors will be fresh-looking, waterproof, protected, easier to clean/maintain, and all minor scratches will go on the sealant, but the fantastic thing is that this process can be repeated every 12 months or as needed. This will ensure a very long-lasting floor as the sealant will take most of the stress from daily activities and traffic.
